We are all capable of incredible things.

62988_10150270908815492_7744508_nI often have the feeling that I was meant for something great or that there is more that I’m meant to be doing with my life. I don’t know if this makes me sound egotistical or just normal but it causes me to always feel like I’m under achieving or wasting my life away.

I have a wonderful wife and a beautiful, clever and funny daughter. I have a degree, I have run a 100mile race and climbed to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro.

Some people would probably be content with this but there’s something inside me telling me that there must be more.

The things that I have wanted to do but not yet achieved are as follows:

  1. Learn the guitar
  2. Learn the piano
  3. Learn to speak fluent French
  4. Get an MBA
  5. Be a leader in my field of business
  6. Make money through property
  7. Read more of the classic books such as Animal Farm
  8. Cycle/run across France from top to bottom
  9. Finish decorating my house
  10. Have a healthier diet and do more regular exercise
  11. Be a kinder, better person to those around me

The list could go on and on, but these are the ones that always seem to nag at me.

My list may seem tame or underwhelming to those of you that aspire to be the first person to walk on Mars or something just as grand, but each of us will have our own personal list. Things that we aspire to do, but have for one reason or another, not yet achieved.

Our capacity for learning and pushing our bodies is almost limitless. We have to make it happen though because no one can do it for us and this is where I fall down. I find motivating myself difficult and there never seems enough hours in the day. So how do other people do it? What is it inside explorers, adventurers, billionaire business people and founders of charities that has driven them to greatness. Perhaps one day i’ll work it out and tick a few of the things off my list.

In the meantime, I will continue to look for inspiration and motivation and post my findings here.
